We're going to Anime Evolution 2015

It has been quite awhile since I have attended an anime convention, but I cannot be happier to announce that SUTORAIKUanime will be attending Anime Evolution for the first time! Held at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, I am looking forward to getting back into the community and sharing exclusive content with all of our readers. From July 17-19, I will be present at Anime Evolution, and this is one of the first signs of life from me since I announced our hiatus for site restructuring.



Special guests will include cosplayers Tarah-Rex and Starktorialist, YTV's Phil Guerrero, as well as English voice actors Janet Varney, Michael Daingerfield, and highly prolific Japanese voice actor Daisuke Sakaguchi.

This will be my first time attending Anime Evolution in my hometown of Vancouver as well as the first time SUTORAIKUanime covers Anime Evolution. It's always very exciting to cover new conventions, and even more so given that Anime Evolution is being held in a brand-new venue, the new UBC Nest building, which happens to have been completed late spring and opened to the public shortly after.

Anime Evolution 2015

ANIME EVOLUTION THE ‘PREMIER ANIME AND JAPANESE POP CULTURE CONVENTION IN VANCOUVER’ MARKS EXPANSION WITH NEW LOCATION IN THE UBC AMS STUDENT NEST BUILDING FOR AE2015. 

Vancouver, BC – July 14, 2015 – In order to accommodate the growing attendee numbers, Anime Evolution (AE), has expanded from the UBC Student Union Building into the UBC AMS Student Nest for our event taking place Friday, July 17 to 19.  Attendance numbers for this weekend are expected to be over 3,000 unique visitors (3,200 attendees in 2014). 

AE 2015 features over 150 hours of diverse, inclusive programming, including panels from professional guests, celebrity voice actors and even a symphony orchestra at the UBC Chan Centre.  Helpful and educational tutorial panels are also scheduled from professional photography to armour making for cosplay fans.  Back by popular demand, are the Cosplay Contests, Anime Idol Contest, Voice Actor Idol Contest and The King of Bishounen: Walkoff (cosplay performance contest). 

We also feature a variety of professional vendors and artists in our vendor hall located on the main floor.  The AMS Student Nest also has a great selection of food vendors opened during our event and the newly opened Pit Pub will be hosting our Friday night dance party featuring PJ Fresh Phil from YTV the Zone.

This year’s guest line-up includes the likes of Daisuke Sakaguchi (Gintama, Mobile Suit Victory Gundam), Phil Guerrero (YTV the Zone), Michael Daingerfield (Inu Yasha, My Little Pony), Janet Varney (The Legend of Korra), and cosplay guests Tarah-Rex and The Starktorialist.  These guests will be making appearances in panels and autograph signings throughout the event.
